OUR HEART
Music For God's Glory
At Gunpowder Baptist Church, music is not a performance to be observed, but an opportunity for the entire congregation to praise the Lord together.
Through biblically faithful hymns and thoughtfully selected contemporary worship songs, we seek to proclaim the truth of His Word, support the preaching of Scripture, and encourage one another in Christ.
"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord."

OUR HERITAGE
Rooted In Truth
A Heritage Worth Preserving
At Gunpowder Baptist Church, we treasure the great hymns of the faith—not simply because they are old, but because they faithfully proclaim the character of God, the work of Christ, and the hope of the Gospel.
We hold contemporary worship songs to that same standard. Whether written centuries ago or today, the music we sing should be rooted in Scripture, centered on Christ, and offered together for God's glory.
"One generation shall commend your works to another, and shall declare your mighty acts."
Psalm 145:4 · ESV
WORSHIPING TOGETHER
One Voice, One Purpose
United in Praise. Centered on Christ.
Worship is not about those standing behind a microphone or playing an instrument. It is the gathered church lifting its voice together in praise to the Lord.
At Gunpowder Baptist Church, our musicians and singers serve to support congregational worship. Through biblically faithful songs, we seek to encourage every generation to participate in proclaiming God's goodness, grace, and truth.
“Oh magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together.”
Psalm 34:3 · ESV
SERVING THROUGH SONG
Our Praise Team
Prepared to Lead. Glad to Serve.
The Praise Team at Gunpowder Baptist Church is made up of singers and instrumentalists who share a desire to glorify God through music and encourage our congregation in worship.
Through prayerful preparation, musical teamwork, and a shared commitment to biblical truth, we seek to lead songs that strengthen faith, proclaim the Gospel, and prepare hearts to receive God's Word.
Every voice and instrument has a place, but our greatest joy is hearing the congregation join together in praise to our Lord.
"Not to us, O LORD, not to us, but to your name give glory."
Psalm 115:1 · ESV (excerpt)
SINGING THROUGH THE SEASONS
Our Seasonal Choir
Many Voices. One Message.
Throughout the year, special seasons of worship provide opportunities for voices to come together in praise of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
At Gunpowder Baptist Church, our Seasonal Choir brings singers together for meaningful musical celebrations, including Christmas, Easter, and other special occasions.
Through traditional hymns, carefully selected choral arrangements, and songs rich in biblical truth, our desire is to proclaim the Gospel, encourage the congregation, and glorify God.
Whether singing familiar melodies or learning something new, our purpose remains the same: to lift high the name of Jesus Christ.
“Oh sing to the LORD a new song; sing to the LORD, all the earth!”
Psalm 96:1 · ESV

PLAYING FOR HIS GLORY
Instrumentalists
Every Note For His Glory
Music has a wonderful way of bringing voices together in worship. At Gunpowder Baptist Church, our instrumentalists use their God-given abilities to support congregational singing and help proclaim the truth of God's Word.
From piano and keyboards to guitars, bass, and percussion, each instrument contributes to a unified sound with one purpose: glorifying the Lord.
We believe musical excellence is a worthy pursuit, not for personal recognition, but as an offering of faithful service to God and His church. Through preparation, teamwork, and humility, we seek to make every note count for His glory.
"Sing to him a new song; play skillfully on the strings, with loud shouts."
Psalm 33:3 · ESV
MUSIC THAT MINISTERS
Special Music
A Song of Praise. A Message of Hope.
Throughout the life of the church, music provides opportunities to share the truths of God's Word in meaningful and personal ways.
At Gunpowder Baptist Church, occasional special musical selections offer another opportunity to encourage the congregation, reflect upon God's goodness, and proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Whether offered by an individual or a small group, our desire is that every song be biblically faithful, Christ-centered, and an expression of worship that brings glory to God.
"Sing to him, sing praises to him; tell of all his wondrous works!"
Psalm 105:2 · ESV
